                                      THE MUSE

Influenced by Radiohead’s futuristic pop and by the hardcore energy of American bands such as Sonic Youth and Nirvana, the Muse conquered also the label of Madonna. Are they the best disciples of Britpop or only a transient next big thing?

ABOUT THE BAND

The band is made up of three members, Matthew Bellamy - lead vocalist, guitarist and pianist Chris Wolstenholme, Bass and Dominic Howard on drums. the band first met in Teignmouth, devon where they spent much of their young lives. They were all 12 or 13 when they formed their first band, Gothic Plague. Despite the bands lack of success they carried on under the names first fixed penalty and then Rocket baby dolls. As they grew older things became more serious and under the name of muse they began to pick up gigs at clubs and pubs whenever they could. The success of their first single release, MuscleMuseum encoraged the band to write and perform their first album Showbiz. A world and UK tour was completed in 1999 as well as other single releases like Uno and Sunburn.

During 2000 Muse continued to play festivals and gigs as well as starting plans for a new album. The band recently released Plug in baby a huge success charting at 11 and have recently stated that the recording for their new album Origin of Symmetry is complete. The second single from this album will also be released (see muse news for more info). With the band all being in only their early 20's and having huge amounts of talent they are definately a band to watch, they have a big future.
